Coins Have Stories. So Do We.
Shellback Coins is a veteran-owned coin and collectibles business built from a longtime passion for numismatics, history, and the stories carried by the things people collect.
My name is Austin, and I’m the owner of Shellback Coins. I began collecting coins more than a decade ago, long before it became a business. What started as an interest in old coins and their history eventually grew into buying, selling, trading, researching, and helping other collectors find pieces they enjoy.
Before starting Shellback Coins, I served six years in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. My time in the Navy took me from shore commands to service aboard the USS Carl Vinson, and somewhere along the way I earned the title of Shellback after crossing the equator.
When it came time to put a name on my coin business, Shellback Coins just made sense. It combines two things that have played a major part in my life: my Naval service and my love of collecting.
What We Buy & Sell
Shellback Coins deals in a wide variety of numismatic and collectible material, including:
- U.S. and world coins
- Gold and silver bullion
- Vintage and modern silver rounds
- Paper currency
- Tokens and medals
- Exonumia and unusual numismatic items
- Historical collectibles and related pieces
I have a particular appreciation for items with an interesting history. Sometimes the most fascinating piece in a collection isn’t necessarily the most expensive one.
Buying Collections
If you’re looking to sell a single coin, a box that’s been sitting in the closet for 30 years, or an entire collection, I’m always interested in taking a look.
I believe sellers deserve to understand what they have and why it’s worth what it’s worth. My goal is to make straightforward, fair offers based on the actual item, its condition, rarity, precious-metal content, and current collector market.
There’s never an obligation to sell simply because I evaluate your collection.
For Collectors, By a Collector
Shellback Coins isn’t a giant coin corporation or anonymous storefront. It’s an independently operated small business run by someone who genuinely enjoys the hobby.
Whether you’re buying your first Morgan dollar, adding a hard-to-find piece to a collection, stacking silver, selling an inherited collection, or just trying to figure out what an unusual old coin is, you’re welcome here.
Fair deals. Interesting coins. Good history.
That’s what Shellback Coins is about.
